Yellowstone National Park 150th Anniversary

This March marked the 150th anniversary of the establishment of Yellowstone National Park, the park of its kind in the world, signed into law by President Grant.

Yellowstone, and the majestic beauty of all the wildlife and other natural wonders it encompasses, acts as a picturesque monument to the inherent care and protection for the environment intrinsic to European peoples. In an era of industrial capitalists stripping entire mountains bare of their forests, and Amerindians slaughtering entire herds of bison, our forefathers sought to protect our homeland from being exploited.

The American system of public lands and the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation, pioneered by greats like John Muir, Teddy Roosevelt, and Gifford Pinchot are testaments to the care our people has for the land that was created for us. It’s vital we remember and continue their efforts at preserving “the greatest good to the greatest number of people for the longest time.”
